Atmantan as a project was very tough to execute. The reason was obvious. The complete hilly terrain spread across 30 acres and the most difficult weather conditions especially during rainy season.
Variety of applications and systems present on site spread across the complete area of this resort made it even more challenging. To gather the whole information at a single BMS workstation, process it and to fit this information on a screen in a segregated format was the task in itself.
Considering all ups and downs in the process, this project was indeed a great success not only to our engineering team but also to the customer.
It was a great satisfaction to see the safety system implemented successfully.
The fire alarm system enables fire to be detected at an early stage so that people at risk can be saved either by evacuating or by the extinguishing the fire.
Client requirement
Requirement was to have a fire alarm system with the following functionality:
- Detecting a fire at an early stage
- Alerting and evacuating occupants
- Notifying the relevant personnel
- Activating auxiliary functions
- Smoke controls, lift homing
- Identifying and guiding fire fighters
Visit Details
This requirement was understood by our engineers at Techbean who visited site for thorough designing of the system. This designing was done after considering the fact of weather conditions (heavy rain) and ease in maintenance.

Honeywell Esser Fire Alarm System
Following are the salient features of Honeywell ESSER FAS are:
- This system is compact and powerful and provides redundancy through ring wiring.
- It allows simultaneous detection, control and warning on the ring bus including stubs. It has features such as fire brigade interface, interface for fire control, outputs for conventional signal generators built into the panel. It also has other relays for individual controls.
- The system has a short circuit and open circuit tolerant esserbus on which up to 127 intelligent and individually addressable bus devices are supported.
- Commissioning and configuration of customer specific system data is with proven software programming tools.
- The fire brigade peripherals (FBCP, FAT) or a remote-control unit can be operated via the integrated RS485 interface.
Handover process
During handover process of FAS the whole system was demonstrated for monitoring and control respectively. All agreed features of FAS for each respective system were tested in the presence of site in charge.
The engineering and services team was trained for operating the FAS system.
The handover document was submitted to the customer, it included the detailed logic description of all systems, system architecture and layout, SLD, operation & maintenance manual, supplier & service centre details and escalation list of service team.
